The successful candidate would be teaching Physics to KS4 and preferably KS5 as well.As several members of the department are able to teach more than one science, the other classes assigned would depend on the candidate's experience and skills.
In KS3 & KS4 we follow the British Science curriculum, while assessing students within the Spanish framework. Many students also take the iGCSE Biology exams.
At KS5 students can choose to take the IB DP or the Spanish National Baccalaureate. At IB DP level we offer Biology, Chemistry, ESS, Physics and SEHS, all taught in English. The Spanish National Baccalaureate is taught mostly in Catalan and we offer Biology, Biomedicine, Earth Sciences, Chemistry and Physics.
The department enjoys the use of three fully equipped laboratories and two knowledgeable and collaborative lab technicians.
Essential:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Science
A PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
A high or near native level of English
A minimum of 2 years experience teaching Science from KS3 to KS5
Ability to sequence and plan schemes of work for new curriculums, while adapting to the needs of the students, including ALN and EAL needs.
Committed to open dialogue with colleagues, pupils, and parents
A willingness to reflect upon best practices
Desirable:
Experience with the IBDP programme.
International teaching experience
A willingness to learn Spanish.
Experience or willingness to teach other subjects e.g. KS3 computing
Contract and Benefits:
Full-time permanent contract, with a four-month trial period
Social Security paid, ensuring state medical cover
Moving expenses of 1,000 euros gross, paid at the end of September (overseas candidates)
Travel expenses up to a maximum of 250 euros - receipts required (overseas candidates)
Assistance given (if required), with finding accommodation, registering with a doctor, official paperwork, opening a bank account
190 working days per academic year
Christmas holidays: 18-20 days
Easter holidays: 10 days
Summer holidays: 30th June - until the end of August
Local, national and additional holidays voted for by the staff: 12 days total
