Description Position Overview: The Nurse (LPN) will be responsible for the coordination and direct oversight of the medical services. The nurse will be responsible for the smoking cessation, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, HIV, AIDS, and substance abuse workshops, medication compliance, and one on one session with each client. Four days/28 hours per week Responsibilities: Coordinating the care of clients; Liaising with clients, relatives and fellow professionals in the community treatment team and attending regular meetings to review and monitor clients' care plans; Visiting clients in their home to monitor progress; •Assessing clients' behavior and psychological needs; •Identifying whether and when clients are at risk of harming themselves or others. Assessing and talking to clients about their problems and discussing the best way to plan and deliver their care; Ensuring the correct administration of medication, including injections, and monitoring the results of treatment; Responding to distressed clients in a non-threatening manner and attempting to understand the source of distress; Applying 'de-escalation' techniques to help people manage their emotions and behavior; Preparing and participating in group and/or one-to-one therapy sessions, both individually and with other health professionals; Providing evidence-based individual therapy, such as cognitive behavior therapy for depression and anxiety; Encouraging clients to take part in art, drama or occupational therapy where appropriate; Organizing social events aimed at developing clients social skills; Preparing and maintaining client records; Producing care plans and risk assessments for individual clients; Ensuring that the legal requirements appropriate to a particular setting or group of clients are observed; Working with clients families and helping to educate them and the client about their mental health problems; Promoting a 'recovery' based approach to care. Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or the Senior Director of Community Resources. Qualifications: Bachelors/Associates in nursing or alternate field NYS License as a Registered LPN or Registered Nurse required Experience working in the health field. Young Judaea Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp, located in Red Hook, is a Hebrew dual-language camp for children entering Pre-K through 5th grade. No previous Hebrew experience is necessary to be part of the Sprout Brooklyn community. Sprout Brooklyn is a place where children from a wide spectrum of backgrounds join together to create a joyful, diverse community built on Jewish values, a connection to Israel and the Hebrew language. All of our Activity Specialists build their own informal Jewish education curricula based on Jewish values and creating a connection to Israel. They teach daily 30 minute lessons to campers entering Pre-K through entering 5th grade. Sprout Brooklyn values staff that are positive and flexible team players who are excited to spend the summer with young campers and staff. The ideal candidate is excited about camp life and feels comfortable wearing multiple hats and will never say that a task “isn’t their job”. Responsibilities Work with the Program Director to create weekly lesson plans Create and execute fun, age-appropriate activities Engage campers and help them develop new skills Run 30 minute lessons daily with groups of 12-14 campers Incorporate Jewish values, Hebrew and/or Israel education into activities whenever possible (assistance is provided if you do not have experience in this area) We are currently seeking specialists in the following areas: Music, Sports, Robotics, Yoga, Art, Dance, Hebrew, Martial Arts, Nature, Swim/Lifeguarding Requirements At least 18 years old Experience working with children ages 3-10 At least 2 years’ experience teaching specialty activity to children Experience attending or working at a summer camp (preferred, not required) Enthusiasm and the willingness to be silly Hebrew fluency is a plus (preferred, not required) Camp runs Monday - Friday from June 24 – August 16 with a week of staff training from June 17, 18, 20 & 23. The camp day is 8:30am – 4:00pm. Approximately 30 hours of pre-camp curriculum development.
