Job Description Full job description The Maintenance Technician for Supported Living performs general maintenance tasks, repairs, and upgrades to residential properties to ensure they are safe, accessible, and comfortable for the people we support. This role focuses on providing high-quality maintenance services while supporting the specific needs of individuals with disabilities or other requirements in a supported living environment. Key Responsibilities: • General Maintenance and Repairs:, • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all property systems (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliances)., • Repair or replace faulty plumbing, electrical components, heating/cooling systems, and general infrastructure as needed., • Ensure that living spaces are safe and functional, addressing issues such as leaks, broken fixtures, and damaged surfaces., • Health and Safety Compliance:, • Ensure the property adheres to local health, safety, and fire regulations., • Perform regular checks to ensure fire alarms, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and emergency exits are operational., • Assist in maintaining accessibility and safety for all residents, including compliance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements., • Resident Support:, • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents, ensuring their needs are addressed in a timely manner., • Help modify and adapt facilities to meet the specific needs of residents, such as installing grab bars, adjusting fixtures for accessibility, and other modifications to ensure comfort and safety., • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and safety in both individual living spaces and communal areas., • Property Upkeep:, • Perform routine exterior maintenance, including lawn care, snow removal, and ensuring outdoor areas are safe and accessible for residents., • Ensure all shared spaces (e.g., hallways, common areas, laundry rooms) are clean and well-maintained., • Monitor building systems for operational efficiency, performing regular upkeep to prevent major issues., • Emergency Maintenance:, • Be available for emergency maintenance services, including urgent repairs such as plumbing failures, power outages, or HVAC malfunctions., • Quickly address any emergencies to minimize disruptions for residents and maintain a safe environment., • Documentation and Reporting:, • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work performed, including inspections, repairs, and any modifications made to the property., • Keep track of inventory for maintenance supplies and equipment., • Report any major issues or required repairs to the property management or supervisor., • Collaboration and Teamwork:, • Work closely with property management and other team members to address maintenance-related issues., • Proven experience in property maintenance, building repairs, or a similar role., • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general building maintenance., • Familiarity with safety and accessibility standards in supported living or similar environments., • Ability to diagnose and repair issues with a variety of systems., • Good communication skills to work effectively with residents, property management, and external contractors., • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks., • Experience in supported living, healthcare, or similar environments., • Relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, or electrical)., • Full-time position with potential on-call availability for emergency maintenance., • Some physical labor is required, including lifting, carrying, and climbing ladders.
