Job Description: Job Description The armed security guard will pick up the shipment of high value (UPS HUB of an airport) and transport the shipment to a consignee within the area. The agents would need to check that all pieces are received and that the seals are intact and match the manifest. The guards will also provide outbound services of picking up packages from local businesses or residences and delivering the package(s) to the UPS airport hub, where they will be placed on an airplane. If you have the capabilities, and would like to apply, you will need to complete an STA (security threat assessment) form. It must be emailed back to us with a copy of their driver's license, social security card and or passport. Those who will perform the courier work for our clients must complete this form as it is submitted for clearance through TSA which will give the guards the clearance they need to deliver packages to the UPS hub, where they will be placed on an airplane. Type of Coverage - Armed Security Guard. Preferred uniform for this work will be cargo pants with a polo shirt (preferrable black in color) and an unmarked personal vehicle. City Tag/pouch/zip tie Dates / Times - We're currently projecting the agents will need to work between 10-30 hours per week. The shipment arrival times, and number of shipments will vary each week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS • Must be 21 years or older at the time of employment., • Must have SFO and LEO POST Certification or be currently enrolled with an anticipated graduation date within 12 months., • Must possess a valid state driver's license or can obtain one prior to employment. NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Knowledge of uniform police procedures and city codes; knowledge of emergency medical procedures and techniques; knowledge of the proper use of firearms., • Skill in the use of a wide variety of equipment including firearms, radar, and surveillance; skill in word processing, spreadsheets, office machine usage and the operation of micro-computers., • No police officer employed by the City of South Salt Lake will establish residence more than forty miles from the center of the city., • Probationary officers who live outside the forty-mile limit will be required to move within the forty-mile limit within nine (9) months of being hired. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination., • Officers employed prior to the effective date of this policy, living outside the forty-mile limit are exempt from the residency portion of this policy. Officers who are currently exempt from residency requirements who then move following the effective date of this policy, may not move any further away from the city than their distance when the policy took effect. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Police Officer works under the direction of a department sergeant; performs police patrol, investigation, traffic regulation and related law enforcement activities. The City police department will compensate Lateral Transfer candidates based on their law enforcement experience.
