Job DescriptionREPORTS TO: Director of Auxiliary Operations FLSA JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt, 12 Month Position, Part-Time JOB PURPOSE: The Assistant Director of Auxiliary Operations works closely with the Director of Auxiliary Operations and assists with all elements of the non-tuition, revenue-generating programs and facilities rentals at Greensboro Day School. The Assistant Director supports the Director with all matters of safety, logistics, oversight, planning, hiring, staff supervision, and operations and is responsible for standing in for the Director in the Director’s absence. This is a part-time 12-month, on-campus position, with general hours of 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. five days per week, Monday through Friday. The Assistant Director of Auxiliary Operations models the GDS Community Cornerstones of Respect, Kindness, Integrity, and Responsibility. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: * In collaboration with the Director of Auxiliary Operations, oversees the safety of the after-school program * Assists in designing, implementing, and running a safe, engaging, and vibrant after-school program for students age 2 through grade 8, including after-school enrichments, Bengal Cub Club (BCC), intramurals, middle school Homework Hangout, and Summer Programs * Supports the Director of Auxiliary Operations in logistics, record keeping, and planning * Supports the Director of Auxiliary Operations with the hiring process of personnel for after-school and Summer Programs * Assigns daily and weekly schedules to after-school staff at the direction of the Director of Auxiliary Operations * Supervises day-to-day activities of students in the after-school program as assigned by the Director of Auxiliary Operations * Assists with student behavior management in collaboration with the Director of Auxiliary Operations * Assists with the management, setup, and operation of the CampBrain digital platform for after-school and summer programs, including daily rosters, attendance reports, billing reports, and staffing assignments * Collaborates with the Director of Auxiliary Operations, the Director of Summer Programs, and summer camp staff to provide a wide variety of summer offerings * Assists the Director of Auxiliary Operations and the Business Office with auxiliary staff payroll documentation and program bookkeeping * Manages and coordinates rental opportunities for school facilities and grounds in collaboration with the Director of Auxiliary Operations * Serves as administrator on duty in the absence of the Director of Auxiliary Operations ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Auxiliary Operations * Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School GDS Cultural Competencies GDS Employee Skills * Human-Centered * Data-Informed * Empathetic * Collaborative * Professionalism * Technologically Fluent * Adaptable & Growth Mindset * Inclusive * Productive conflict resolution * Integrity * Welcoming * Respectful * Listens to Understand * Relationship-Focused * Student-Centered * Field Expertise * Coachable * Lifelong Learner * Kind Position Requirements * Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred * Classroom teaching experience or experience working with children in education or camp settings (2 years minimum) * Supervisory experience in an education or camp setting strongly preferred * Successful experience in revenue-generating programs preferred * Experience working in an independent school is a plus * An entrepreneurial and generative thinker * Enthusiasm for creating and guiding innovative academic, arts, experiential, outdoor education, and athletic programming for school-aged children * Proven self-starter with foresight to analyze issues and provide solutions * Must be able to think and strategically, but also be willing to roll up your sleeves * Energized by multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines * Organizational skills must be a demonstrated strength * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Personal qualities of credibility and unwavering commitment to Greensboro Day School’s mission * A sense of humor is appreciated WORKING CONDITIONS: Daily work requires supervising students both indoors and outdoors. Faculty are required to participate in regular safety drills, learn CPR, learn how to apply a tourniquet, provide basic first aid, administer epi-pens when needed, and be able to support other student-specific health-related needs. Some weekend, evening, or early morning work may be required from time to time. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Anyone working with young children must be able to assist the children in toileting, hand washing, nose-blowing, etc. This position must be able to move quickly and frequently from standing to sitting with ease, lift up to 50 pounds, and sit on small chairs and the floor. The position must also be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child. The position must be able to provide adequate supervision indoors and outdoors, and they must be able to ensure the safety of students during drills and emergencies that may arise from time to time. This position has frequent exposure to loud sounds and high noise levels on a weekly basis. Regular early morning, evening, and weekend work is required. Some duties of this job take place in an office setting. This position is frequently required to operate a computer and file and retrieve written documents. The physical demands include, but are not limited to, standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, handling, kneeling, crouching and bending. There will be extended periods of sitting required when performing administrative tasks and while attending meetings. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
