Job DescriptionBergen Community College is accepting applications for adjunct positions for our Fashion Program for Spring 2026. Fashion Department: The mission of the department of visual arts at Bergen Community is to provide students with instruction, experience and encouragement in the practice of visual art and the study of the history of art and visual culture. Our courses, taught by professors who are also professionals active in their fields, impart current information and techniques and promote the development of students’ thinking about art, media, and culture. The Visual Arts Department is located on the main campus in Paramus in West Hall. Facilities include state-of-the-art studios for computer animation, computer graphics, drawing/painting, digital and darkroom photography and digital projection for the teaching of the history of art. The Associate of Applied Science degree (A.A.S.)- Fashion Apparel Design option is designed to provide students with the coursework needed to transfer to a four-year institution and pursue a bachelor’s degree in fashion apparel design. The curriculum provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a pathway to careers in the fashion design and apparel industries as designers, technical designers and stylists. Students can take coursework and concentrated options in fashion. Courses and Requirements: We are looking for adjunct faculty to teach within the AAS Fashion Apparel Design program. Applicants must have at least 5 years of fashion design industry experience and a BFA in the field of discipline - however a Masters degree is preferred. If interested, we also ask that you provide some samples of your work - you can attach them to your application with your resume. Rates and Benefits: • Adjunct rates range from $922 to $960. The pay rates are $938 a credit for adjuncts who have obtained an Associates, $950 for a Bachelor's and $960 for a Master's., • Tuition Waiver for BCC courses for themselves or their dependents

Responsibilities • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to sew each project with correct materials and colors, • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed), • Test operation of machines periodically, • Fix minor issues that might occur during the shift, • Check output to spot any mistakes or flaws in materials or workmanship, • Proven experience as a sewing machine operator (sewing sample will be required), • Working knowledge of single head industrial sewing machines.
