The Assistant Plant Manager plays a critical leadership role in supervising the day-to-day activities for multiple segments of our industrial, specialty, and medical gas distribution and gas filling operations. This is a hands-on, working-supervisor position that requires the ability to lead from the floor, actively participating in and managing production flow, while also ensuring high quality output and strict adherence to all regulatory and safety standards. This role is for a dedicated leader who can manage production flow, foster a safety-first culture, and drive continuous improvement across filling, processing, and testing operations by example. Leadership & Team Management • Supervise, mentor, and coach a team of associates involved in plant, quality assurance lab, and/or driving activities., • Serve as a working supervisor, actively participating in and assisting the team with tasks such as cylinder processing, filling, inspection, and material handling, especially during peak periods or when technical guidance is needed., • Coordinate effectively and partner with other Plant Supervisors to ensure seamless, synchronized, and efficient day-to-day operations., • Promote a strong safety and compliance culture by immediately correcting unsafe acts or conditions and ensuring all team members follow protocol., • Interpret company policies and safety regulations to the workforce and ensure consistent enforcement., • Recommend or initiate associate actions such as new hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary measures., • Train new workers and implement cross-training programs to ensure continued production efficiency during personnel shortages., • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals, driving a high-performance environment. Operations & Compliance • Oversee and assist with managing all gas cylinder processing, ultrasonic testing, and cylinder maintenance operations., • Ensure 100% compliance with all relevant federal and state regulatory bodies, including Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), SAFECORE, and other business-related compliance activities1., • Study production schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for job assignments; maintain accurate time and production records., • Assign tasks to workers based on customer needs, current stock levels, and individual worker expertise., • Implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality; continuously evaluate and adjust working conditions to increase efficiency and output., • Analyze and resolve work problems or actively work alongside associates in solving complex operational challenges, providing direct, on-the-floor technical guidance., • Coordinate and maintain proper inventory levels of essential supplies and equipment., • Provide assistance to the Plant Manager with regard to planning and managing capital investments., • Complete additional duties and projects as assigned. Are you a MATCH? • Required: High School Diploma or GED., • Required Experience: A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience working in a leadership or supervisory role within a manufacturing or industrial distribution environment., • Preferred Technical Experience: Prior technical experience with compressed gases, gas analysis, and gas lab equipment., • Preferred System Experience: Prior experience utilizing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, preferably SAP. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) • Mindset & Leadership: Proven ability to lead from the floor and function effectively as a working supervisor, demonstrated by a willingness to engage in the physical and technical tasks performed by the supervised team., • Safety & Compliance Focus: Strong dedication to product quality, customer satisfaction, and an uncompromising commitment to safety and regulatory compliance., • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of how to leverage metrics and related tools to drive continuous improvement in production efficiency and effectiveness., • Technology Proficiency: Intermediate proficiency with Google suite applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)., • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills that ensure a smooth flow of information, encourage open expression of ideas, and demonstrate effective listening., • Mathematical Aptitude: Demonstrated knowledge of basic arithmetic () in whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratios, and percentages., • Work Ethic: A self-starter, self-motivated, and well-organized individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team., • Detail Orientation: Highly detail-oriented with the ability to complete handwritten compliance documentation neatly and accurately. Physical Demands • The employee may be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time., • The employee will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information., • Requires frequent use of computer and telephone for communication and data entry., • The ability to occasionally move up to 60 pounds and move more than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment., • Occasionally required to traverse through office and/or manufacturing locations., • Required to observe and assess information received via computer. Work Environment • Minimal travel required., • Work will require exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments in various seasonal weather conditions., • Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 100 degrees., • Work space contains moving mechanical parts and risk of electric shock., • The environment may contain loud noises and odors that may be continuous or long-lasting.
